Vaccinated!

I got my second shot of Pfizer at Canada Place in downtown Vancouver. It went smoothly just like the first dose. I admire the efficiency with which the medical personnel and organizational staff do their work here, with hundreds of people streaming in every hour.

I went early to the location because I wanted to draw a musician who plays the accordion right outside the entrance. He was playing classic European melodies and some jazz standards when I reached, under a warm sun. From time to time, he would have to hold on to the umbrella-stand over his head because it threatened to fall away with the strong wind.

I circled around him for a few minutes, sitting at different spots, before finding the location that finally worked for me.

Criteria - in the shade, and inconspicuous.

I finished the drawing just as 5 minutes before my scheduled appointment for the vaccine. The musician was playing La Vie en Rose, one of my favorite songs, as I took the pic above. The timing was perfect.

Inside Canada Place, everything was smooth as clockwork. There was no waiting, just a queue that kept moving forward. I was at my seat in front of the medical staff within 5 minutes of entering the building, and being instructed on possible side-effects.

After the shot, everyone is required to sit for 15 minutes, to check for anaphylactic reactions. And fifteen minutes is the perfect amount of time for me to do a second sketch!

After the waiting period, after this sketch, I walked out into the sun again and past the musician. I put a $5 note in his collection box and thanked him for the music.

But I did not tell him about the sketch. That’s a secret between you and me. Shh.
