"Going Around" USk Meetup - Urban Sketchers Twin Cities
I went to an urban sketchers meetup and all I sketched was an urban sketcher. #JustSneakyArtThings
Here's the story -
I swear I started with a real formal, proper-like Urban sketch. Trees and trails. Bridge behind me. Sky.
But I thought I would draw the camping stool first. It's such an essential #usk tool, whether in a city or in nature. I almost considered sitting. The#urbansketcherstwincities placard rested upon it. I drew them instead. Nice shadows.
The weather was just right. We were winding down from the drawing over the past 2 hours, stretching our legs, thinking about coffee. I noticed the thermos throwing shade on the paint box.
Pam, Cris and Amber were joined by the other sketchers. The conversation turned to paints and brushes. Pam stashes her art supplies in a mini crochet-kit bag. Its the right size and fit for an urban sketcher on the go.
I was done with that much, but then there was still time left. Pam was waiting for a layer to dry before getting into the final touches. So I started to draw her, feet up.
It is fun to fill up pages in different ways, from different starting points. You end up with different things than you planned. And it stays fresh.
If you get stuck in the same places, in a familiar rut, along the same old paths, consider a different route. Try to get around.
